Customer Service Assistant
Commercial (Business) Insurance
The Commercial Insurance Assistant is responsible for providing processing and documentation assistance to the Commercial Insurance customer service team. This role has accountability to process certificates, audits, dividend checks, policies and cancellations. This person will be responsible to review policies and ensure TAM data base matches the policy, maintains the activity file in TAM and reviews the daily TAM communication log. Works closely with the Commercial Lines Customer Service staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the customer service team in their processing and documentation needs and other related projects
- Examine all documents for completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards
- Responsible for understanding and interpreting compliance standards and evaluates TAM database to ensure documentation and conformance standards are achieved
- Identify and communicate non-conformance to individual customer service agents as needed, escalating trends and issues to department managers
- Process data such as:
- Activities on the account
- Endorsements
- Dividend checks
- Issue certificates as needed
- Policies as needed
- Policy cancellations
- Audits
- Finance Agreements
- Process daily communication log for information downloaded
- Communicates with insurance carriers for follow up as needed
- Assist in training customer service agents in TAM as needed
- Coordinate collation, compilation and mailing of policies
- Coordinate scanning duties
- Conduct projects associated with documentation compliance, accuracy and consistency when assigned
- Backup to receptionist
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in a Business related field form an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant work experience is preferred
- 5-10 years experience working in an insurance policy processing function preferably in the commercial insurance industry is preferred
- Ability to obtain Property & Casualty Insurance license within one year from hire date
- Ability to solve problems effectively and apply critical thinking
- Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to multi-task and be flexible towards priority changes
- Self-directed and self-motivated
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor
- Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and preferred knowledge of insurance operating systems, especially Applied TAM.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary role, however, the job does require the ability to lift files and binders on occasion and bend and stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours:
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch break.
